How lucky were we to visit Turkey when we did? In September 2015 we arrived as dawn was breaking over the magical city of Istanbul.  

 

A city of excitement, where east meets west.  The mosaics left our heads spinning.....  a magic hotel, then a beautiful guest house decorated by a husband and wife team, she an interior designer and he a sculptor. We cruised the Bosphorus, dined to the sound of the call to prayer overlooking the Galata Bridge, wandered the Grand Bazaar, explored the shops on Istiklal Caddesi, marvelled at the OTT extravagance of the Dolmabahçe Palace.
